This is the first official game of 4th edition starting with a new campaign and new players. No one knows each other and all are welcome to come down to make a character. 2 slots are available for players and this meetup will happen every week starting at the same time, excluding extenuating circumstances. This is a group of mature gamers who want to play and are looking for a steady and fun group, where we can also meet new people. Located near Arapahoe Crossing in south Aurora, CO we provide a quiet but fun atmosphere with interesting and deep play. DM Drew hosts this event and hopes all have a happy and safe gaming experience!
D&D Game Setting and basics
Now as I said before also, this first game is just a game of choices and possibly an adventure if you guys decide early on what to do.
The White Crest mountain range to the north is the trapping and hunting capital of the kingdom. Everyone knows the mountains by the curved mountain range with even white peaks all year round as they stretch across the entire northern border of Tortheldrin. Our group begins it's awareness at the road south of a mining outpost, heading towards Tortheldrin with a group of around 75 refugees. The northern mining outpost was the major producers of a lot of metals for the kingdom and even contained a large Dwarven clan of artisans under the shield of "Hammerfist Artisans". Turns out that they didn't get there by pure skill, and made an enemy along the way. The mines below the outpost were sabotaged, and the entire population was removed for safety reasons as fires also broke out from the giant smelters and other mining tunnels collapsed.
Along the road south as the refugees and our heroes travel, the Hammerfist artisans have a few dwarves mulling around with parchment that reads the following:
"The desecration of your beloved town and home of Tortheldrin shall not be in vain. We, the Hammerfist Artisans, offer a bounty of 30g per person associated with the party that brings the saboteur to justice. 50g each AND a handsome trophy for the party that ends the previously mentioned miserable life. Direct all inquiries to our Honorable Artisan Arrin."
The Dwarves don't seem the only one's eager to give such rewards out, as a few others have mentioned many things left behind in the city that would be well worth the effort to go back for. There's a small group of four enchanters and alchemists that you pass by whom are also constantly muttering thigs about their lab and equipment back at the outpost.
One family in particular which everyone mentions every now and then is the martial leader of the outpost Curran, who was supposedly killed in one of the collapsed structures under the mountain. His wife, Ulgra, insists that he's a stubborn old fool and would still be alive and probably eating rats with his father's tomb in one of the old keeps.
As the refugees head south, you gather all of this information (take 20). By nightfall the large group reaches a decently sized tavern called "The Flaming Monkey". The tavern, famous for it's quickly intoxicating drink the Pennywise, is located on the corner of the Crossroads, where four directions lead out of the area. Still visible on the signage post are "The Great Grasslands" to the east, "Port Ronass" to the west, "Torthedrin" to the south, and "Whitecrest Metallurgy" to the north. Almost immediately upon arrival everyone starts setting up tents or buying rooms for a gouged price above the tavern's bar. A few families post flyers on the walls near the exits offering a few silver for escorts to the capital, two days away on foot.
The night itself is starting to go down the drain as rain starts to downpour on the crossroads, leaving muddy disgusting roads, and a very packed tavern. The barmaster is named Melloon, a half-elf woman, who dispite being very butch is also a very welcoming soul, however busy she may be tonight with great influx of travellers.
